| Notes | Andoljšek emphasizes that 'the purpose of these editions /.../ and the content show that they were not adapted for school only. They were even less so primers, as there were no reading instructions in any of them.' Kidrič and Smolnik consider Ozbald Gutsman to be the person who most likely translated the first and not entirely reliably dated Klagenfurt edition of Parhamer's adaptation of Canisius' Catechism from the period between 1760 and 1762. The same translator (probably Gutsman, as mentioned) is almost certainly also the author of the translation in the edition from 1790. The title page of the first edition has not been preserved, so we did not add the title of the latter, but it is probably the closest to the one from 1790. For the two remaining editions from 1762 and 1764, we cannot firmly state that at this stage (Smolnik, 2011 and Kidrič, 2013 and Andoljšek, 1978, 33). |
