NotesMetelko's translation of the German calculus 'Anleitung zur Rechenkunst zum Gebrauche der deutschen Schulen in den kaiserlichen königlichen Staaten. Erster Theil. Für Trivial- und Hauptschulen von drey Classen' was not very widespread in schools with the Slovenian language of instruction. Thus Schmidt comments: 'In one and a half years, only 17 copies were sold, even though first-grade students could also use it. In bilingual schools, they used German calculus, but in Slovenian schools - as in most cases before - due to the predominantly oral calculus, they also published without it, especially since it was printed in the Metelko alphabet' (Hladnik, 2017, 314 in Schmidt, 1964, 223-224).
